While both Spencer’s and Nature’s Basket are focused on food and grocery retail, the latter is exclusively into food and grocery and hence will be easier to get capital through overseas investors since India allows 100 per cent foreign direct investment in food retail. Spencer’s also retails apparel, general merchandise, electronics and liquor.
