UIDAI deactivates Aadhaar of deceased persons to prevent misuse, disables 1.17 crore ids

UIDAI has deactivated over 1.17 crore Aadhaar numbers of deceased individuals to prevent identity misuse. A new service on the myAadhaar Portal allows family members in 24 states and UTs to report deaths. UIDAI is also collaborating with state governments to identify and verify the status of Aadhaar holders aged over 100 years for deactivation.
