Import-intensive spending likely to feel the pinch

Spending deemed unnecessary or which can be delayed is likely to face curbs to meet resource needs elsewhere. The finance ministry wants to rein in unnecessary spending to keep room for any extra expenditure that the government may have to incur going forward. Essential and priority spending as well as expenditure that adds value to the economy will be allowed.
