TMC will abstain from the August 6 vice-presidential polls, saying the party wasn’t consulted before the opposition bloc proposed Margaret Alva’s candidature and there is “no question” of supporting NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar either. TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee announced the party’s first official reaction to the VP polls after Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs at her residence in Kalighat.
