Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan-I released yesterday and has recorded the biggest ever opening day for Tamil cinema worldwide. The film collected 80 crore at the ticket window. Interestingly, the first-day global gross collection of the film is also higher than Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva. The Ayan Mukerji’s directorial had collected Rs 75 crore gross worldwide on Day 1.
