Pleasant weather, midweek voting day aid big turnout in Karnataka

Karnataka witnessed a heavy voter turnout across its 58,545 polling stations, with the election commission issuing tokens to people who were queuing at 6 pm to allow them to vote outside of official hours. A 23-year-old woman gave birth in a polling booth in the Ballari district, while a 49-year-old man died of a heart attack after voting in Hassan. Despite some mild clashes reported, police described the overall atmosphere as peaceful, with no polling stations requiring a repoll.
