Suspected militants in Manipur's Tengnoupal district fatally shot Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Chingtham Anand Kumar during a police team's inspection of a proposed helipad construction site at the Eastern Shine School ground in Moreh. After the attack, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed deep sorrow over the killing and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. An ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh and a government job for the deceased officer's next of kin were approved, and joint operations were initiated to capture the culprits.
