Punjab has seen a surge in seizures of drugs, unaccounted cash, and liquor worth Rs 243.95 crore following the implementation of the model code of conduct following the announcement of the Lok Sabha polls. The state's Chief Electoral Officer, Sibin C, stated that tight security arrangements have been made to ensure a free and fair election process. Inter-state checkpoints are being monitored with CCTV cameras.
