The Congress, under new J&K chief Tariq Hameed Karra, is open to alliances with like-minded parties for state elections. Karra criticized the Centre’s action of converting Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory, calling for the restoration of statehood. Talks with the National Conference and PDP for an electoral alliance are underway.
