Several BJP and Congress leaders in Haryana withdrew their nominations for the October 5 polls after being persuaded by senior party members. This leaves 1,031 candidates contesting from 90 assembly seats. The withdrawals were aimed at reducing internal competition and strengthening party unity ahead of the elections.
