As the cumulative monsoon rainfall over the country touches almost ‘normal’ level with the deficit reduced to less than 1% on Saturday, the overall acreage of Kharif (summer-sown) crops in India crossed the ‘normal’ sown area threshold by over 8 lakh hectares.
