The European Union launched a naval mission called Aspides to protect Red Sea shipping from Yemen's Huthi rebels. The mission aims to ensure freedom of navigation and will work alongside the US-led naval coalition. Huthi attacks have disrupted shipping and forced companies to take alternative routes. A Greek-flagged, US-owned cargo ship was attacked twice in the Gulf of Aden.
