Xi has expanded China's atomic arsenal faster than any other Chinese leader, bringing his country closer to the big league of the United States and Russia. He has doubled the size of China's arsenal to roughly 500 warheads, and at this rate, by 2035, it could have about 1,500 warheads -- roughly as many as the U.S. and Russia each now deploy, U.S. officials have said.
