The Boston Celtics have been purchased by private equity investor William Chisholm and a group of investors for $6.1 billion. This sale is the largest of a North American sports franchise. This deal surpasses the previous record of $6.05 billion, which was set in 2023 for the purchase of the Washington Commanders, a professional football team.
