After High Court stay, Bihar explores ways to complete caste survey

The Bihar government is exploring all possible options to complete the caste survey, which was halted by the Patna High Court on May 4 after 80% of the work was finished. While the government has asked for an early hearing, it is also willing to enact a law, if necessary. Vijay Kumar Choudhary, the finance and parliamentary affairs minister, said the government is serious about the survey, saying that “authentic caste-wise population data is important to formulate and implement any government policy. We need to know the economic condition of people belonging to every caste.
