The Supreme Court has ruled that amendments brought to Section 153C of the Income-tax Act, 1961 will apply retrospectively to searches conducted before June 1, 2015. The court overturned the Gujarat High Court's previous judgment to the contrary, stating that the amendment would be applicable to previous searches, as its purpose is to address persons other than the searched individual.
