Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 81 runs in their first home match in almost four years. KKR found themselves struggling before counter-attacking half-century by Shardul Thakur (29-ball 68) led the team's total to 204/7. In response, RCB could only manage 123 runs in 17.4 overs with Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and debutant Suyash Sharma sharing eight wickets between them. Earlier, David Willey and Karn Sharma took wickets off successive deliveries to give RCB an initial edge. The match marked KKR's first win of the season.
